Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said he’s been pleased with the development of quarterback Paxton Lynch…

One year ago, Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch was in a battle with Trevor Siemian for the starting job.

This year, the first-team reps are going ‘exclusively’ to Case Keenum, but that doesn’t mean Lynch hasn’t shown any signs of improvement.

Head coach Vance Joseph said on Wednesday that he is ‘proud’ of Lynch and the work he’s put in this offseason, and offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave took it a step further.

In a post-practice press conference, Musgrave stated that Lynch has done the best of the three quarterbacks (obviously not including Nick Stevens) at making good decisions with the football, especially late in the down.

As Von Miller warned us all, it’s important not to put too much stock into one OTA session, but Musgrave complimented Lynch on his work in all six of the Broncos’ OTAs thus far, and that should be considered a very positive development.

As I have stated throughout the offseason, the Broncos and everyone else had reasons to be encouraged by Lynch’s performance in a week 17 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Too many were willing to dismiss that game because of the fact that Kansas City rested starters, but no one has been criticizing Chiefs fans for being excited about Patrick Mahomes after his performance against Broncos backups.

Lynch’s development didn’t die with the 2017 season, and he has every right to continue progressing, regardless of what Broncos fans or other pundits think about him.

The fact that Musgrave singled him out and talked about him like this has me excited to see what kind of progressions he’s made in full-speed 11-on-11 at Broncos training camp.

Lynch is competing with Chad Kelly to be the team’s backup this season, and reports like this from his offensive coordinator certainly help his chances.
