Jake Butt, Tight End

The Broncos believed Jake Butt to be, at worst, a third round player in last year’s draft prior to the knee injury he suffered against Florida State.

Butt was the premier tight end in college football for a couple of seasons, and from 2015-16 caught 97 passes with nine touchdowns.

Butt can be the red zone threat at the tight end position the Broncos have lacked, and also provide the quarterback with an outlet that is reliable on third downs.

Butt understands how to exploit coverages in a variety of ways. He’s experienced as a blocker, and up eight pounds from his listed 250 last season.

With increased strength hopefully translating directly to the field, Butt is primed to give the Broncos a weapon offensively this season they have seriously lacked the past four seasons since Julius Thomas left.
