Chad Kelly, Quarterback

Chad Kelly has a chance, as Keckler notes in the podcast, to go from Mr. Irrelevant to possible starting quarterback. That won’t happen overnight.

While I personally have high hopes for Kelly, it would be unreasonable to expect him to be a star immediately. He has been mostly out of football for 18 months and working his way to peak physical condition.

Kelly’s great opportunity this season is to compete against Paxton Lynch to be the backup quarterback of the Denver Broncos.

Whatever player wins the backup job is obviously only one snap away from significant action at any given time.

Expectations for Kelly are obviously different depending on which Broncos fan or analyst you are talking to, but I personally really liked him coming out of the draft and can’t wait to see him compete.
