De’Angelo Henderson was involved in a serious car accident late Saturday night. Thankfully, he walked away with minor injuries…

According to CBS News, a vehicle was reported stolen Saturday night. When officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver fled. The car crash ended when the driver crashed into Denver Broncos running back De’Angelo Henderson.

Executive Vice President of Public and Communication Relations, Patrick Smyth tweeted the news of Henderson’s involvement earlier today.

Henderson, a second-year back out of Coastal Carolina, is expected to compete for the backup running back position when OTAs begin next week. Henderson is an explosive playmaker and showed as much during his phenomenal preseason performance. Head coach Vance Joseph rarely put him in the game, however.

Henderson only carried the ball seven times and caught two passes with the bulk of his work coming in the season finale. Finally, Joseph elected to give many of the younger players a chance to shine in a meaningless game. De’Angelo did not disappoint showing his playmaking ability in taking a 29-yard reception to the house.

With the release of C.J. Anderson in March, many expected Henderson to assume the number two spot on the depth chart. Things quickly change in the NFL. Elway proceeded to add three backs during the draft period.

Many analysts are predicting third-rounder Royce Freeman to compete for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Additionally, the local crowd is extremely excited about the University of Colorado back Philip Lindsay. Meanwhile, Elway also added Arkansas back David Williams in the seventh round.

These acquisitions mean Henderson is in for quite the competition in training camp. Thankfully he only sustained minor injuries in this scary accident. He shared the details including his totaled car in a heartfelt Instagram post earlier this afternoon.

Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured in the accident including Henderson. He is expected to be fully recovered and ready for the start of OTAs.
