Isaac Yiadom Ready To Take Flight With Broncos Secondary In 2018
By Cody Roark
Isaac Yiadom begins his NFL career as it gears to take shape in 2018 under his secondary coach and the veteran leadership of the Broncos Defensive Backs.
As Isaac Yiadom awaited his fate during the NFL Draft, he received a phone call from a 303 area code.
It was John Elway, President of Operations and General Manager of the Denver Broncos welcoming Yiadom to the organization.
Now, I can only dream about how it would feel to hear John Elway say “We’re thrilled you’re a Bronco.”
Step one complete. Yiadom first stood out to the Denver Broncos during Senior Bowl practices.
Lengthy and physical, Yiadom demonstrated his ability to play press man to man coverage by locking up now Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and fellow 2018 rookie Michael Gallup.
Yiadom joins a diverse and energetic meeting room with Chris Harris Jr. and Bradley Roby serving as the veterans to learn from.
After Aqib Talib’s departure from Denver, many fans in Broncos Country worried about his potential replacement.
While it’s too early to project whether or not Yiadom will be the replacement for Talib, he’s an exciting talent.
Broncos cornerbacks coach Greg Williams told me that he is excited to work with Yiadom.
Williams joined the Broncos’ coaching staff during the offseason and went to work immediately by evaluating film on the secondary.
Yiadom will have the opportunity to learn from Williams’ experience, which specializes in sharpening the tools of his players and developing their fundamentals.
Not only will Yiadom have the guidance from Harris and Roby, he’s reunited with a familiar face.
Justin Simmons, Yiadom’s former teammate at Boston College, has his back during the transition from the NCAA to the NFL.
"“ Justin is like my big brother. When I first went to college, he’s the one that hosted me on my official visit and here, I know if I have any questions I can ask the coaches or Justin.”– Isaac Yiadom, Via Denver Broncos PR"

After spending countless hours watching game tape of Yiadom at Boston College, here’s what stood out.
- Length – his 6’1″ 190lb frame provides the perfect combination of strength and reach to jam receivers off the line of scrimmage.
- Contact – one of the better tackling CBs in the 2018 draft. He runs through guys and forces physical pass breakups
- Effort – plays with a relentless motor on the field and has a tendency to be around the football
- Hips – he has very fluid hips which give him an advantage in press coverage to break inside, outside, or open up vertically.
Yiadom has the opportunity to make an immediate impact for the Broncos on defense and special teams.
