Denver Broncos: Comparing the 2017 and 2018 Rosters
By Ian Walsh
Tight End
Addition: Troy Fumagalli
Lost: Virgil Green
The tight end group has been a question since Julius Thomas left a few years ago. Jake Butt was drafted last year and did not play a snap as he recovered from an injury he suffered in college. The hope for 2018 is that Butt can return to his pre-injury form and pair with Fumagalli to provide a solid duo at tight end. In addition to Fumagalli and Butt is another young tight end in Jeff Heuerman who has not shown much in his first 3 seasons.
The Verdict: Worse
While Virgil Green was not spectacular in the passing game, he provided plenty of value as a solid run blocker. While the three young tight ends on the Broncos roster are unproven, they offer plenty of potential. Watch the tight end group closely in training camp as it could become a weakness if none of the young tight ends live up to their promise.
