DaeSean Hamilton, WR, Penn State

The Broncos have needed production out of the slot, and DaeSean Hamilton can provide exactly that.

One of the most refined route runners in the entire draft, Hamilton worked with the Broncos and new receivers coach Zach Azzani at this year’s Senior Bowl.

The two developed a bond in Mobile, and Hamilton will have a small leg up at OTAs over some of the other young receivers, having already been put through a week of practice by the Broncos.

I got the chance to talk to Hamilton before the draft, and he talked about the mental aspect of the game specifically at the Senior Bowl, and his ability to digest a lot of information quickly.

In the NFL, the name of the game is speed, and this is a player whose NFL route tree and strong hands will help him get on the field very quickly.

I didn’t know if the Broncos would take two receivers in this draft but having both Sutton and Hamilton now feels like the Broncos have the luxury of depth at the position, and enviable depth at that.

Like Sutton, Hamilton wins in contested catch situations. He works the slot like a crafty veteran player, but don’t let that fool you into believing he can’t go up and get it with the best of them. I think he can be effective inside or outside.
