Devontae Booker

Releasing CJ Anderson initially appeared to be an endorsement of Booker. Just two weeks later, Royce Freeman, David Williams, and Philip Lindsay are new faces in the Broncos backfield. These talented additions put pressure on Booker to step up in his third year.

Despite only playing two seasons, Booker will already be 26 at the start of the 2018 season. In his two years with the Denver Broncos, Booker has 911 yards on 253 carries. That’s only 3.6 yards per carry.

In addition to the limited rushing yards, Booker has put the ball on the ground three times. That is more than once every 100 carries. This plus his injury history doesn’t bode well for him.

Royce Freeman is a supremely talented back out of Oregon. He leaves as the leading rusher in Oregon history, and at 6’0’’ 230 pounds with a 4.54 40-yard dash, he packs a punch.

Although David Williams was taken in the 7th round, Philip Lindsay is who I am more excited about in the backfield. He is a talented runner out of the University of Colorado and offers a lot as a returner. If Freeman wins the starting job and De’Angelo Henderson wins the backup spot, there will not be room for a third string back who doesn’t contribute on special teams.
