Four things DaeSean Hamilton brings to the table for Broncos
Slot Production
This is a huge area of weakness the Broncos have been dying to address.
We’ve been spoiled with arguably the two slot receivers to ever do it — Brandon Stokley, then Wes Welker.
It feels like it’s been a lifetime since the Broncos had a guy that caliber manning the slot receiver position, and their offensive production has directly reflected their lack of a presence inside at receiver.
Lucky for them, Hamilton is an excellent slot player.
It’s rare to see a college player’s highlight reel comprised almost entirely of plays from the slot. And it’s not just the highlight reel either.
Every game I watched of Hamilton, he was playing from the slot on almost every single play. Penn State’s offense utilized him in matchup situations and forced teams to often put their best cornerback on Hamilton and run with him inside.
If they didn’t?
He would feast.
Hamilton was a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses and he forced teams into bad matchup situations. It will take time for him to become that kind of matchup problem for teams in the NFL, but he can perhaps help at least take some attention off of the receivers on the outside by providing an actual threat on the inside.
