It took till the sixth round, but the Denver Broncos finally focused on offensive line with their selection of Sam Jones for needed depth…

Sam Jones sounds like an 18th century American Revolution hero, but he could be the late round hero the Denver Broncos need in sixth round.

The team was rumored to be in on offensive line players in the NFL Draft early. They chose not to take one until the 183rd overall pick. However, there’s decent enough tape on Sam Jones and he gives the Broncos good depth at guard.

Jones is a local product of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. He attended ThunderRidge High School and committed to Arizona State.

What a cool moment for the Denver Broncos to draft a native of the state and compete for a starting spot. In fact, it is not out of the question that he compete for that starting job.

He is a good athlete at guard. Jones has grit and nastiness and is not afraid to compete and complete blocks.

Connor McGovern is the projected starter at right guard since Ronald Leary is planning to move to left guard. Jones will compete with McGovern. The Broncos will not hand the position to McGovern, but he’s likely to take it. However, Jones is a great story and due to all the holes on the roster at the offensive line, he can challenge for a spot.

Kallen Ballage saw holes created for him by Sam Jones at guard and it is understandable why Jones was drafted. As seen in the video, there’s reason to be excited.

This is not the first time the Denver Broncos a local offensive line prospect. Ben Garland played at Air Force and was a fan favorite. There are rumblings of the Broncos moving on from Max Garcia. This move may or may not trigger a corresponding move.

Let’s take a look at your newest Broncos offensive lineman, Sam Jones.
