Video Highlights: Denver Broncos Draft Josey Jewell

Linebacker is a concern in year’s past and the Denver Broncos drafted the most high character and exceptionally smart player in Josey Jewell.

Todd Davis was resigned, but the Denver Broncos brass made it a priority to address the position quickly. Much like Jake Butt last year, the team drafted a true leader at linebacker. Josey Jewell is near the instincts of Roquan Smith, but Jewell is the most cerebral linebacker in the class. A team captain three straight years and a defensive staple his entire career, Jewell can become an instant fan favorite.

In all honesty, Josey Jewell might become a starter halfway into the season. He’s that smart. The Denver Broncos appear to make it a priority to add locker room player that can win over a team instantly. Jewell is beloved by his teammates and is committed to becoming the best linebacker in this class. That’s what he told Mike Klis anyway.

Jewell is sound. He uses his hands very well and strongly sheds off blocks to get in the backfield. His gap technique is magnificent. Jewell also carries an underrated pass coverage. People will pin point to Saquon Barkley game, but guys no one can cover Barkley in this class. Jewell is not afraid to clean up a play at linebacker, which is a priority of any linebacker.

An old school linebacker, the Denver Broncos drafted a player that compares to legend Zach Thomas and a former player in Chris Borland.
