The Denver Broncos used the 99th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on Boston College cornerback Isaac Yiadom, who joins the No Fly Zone…

With the 99th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos made a move to upgrade the No Fly Zone, drafting Boston College cornerback Isaac Yiadom.

Former Boston College star safety Justin Simmons, a fellow former third round compensatory pick (picked 98th by the Broncos in 2016) is certain to be the happiest player on the roster.

Many in the scouting community really love this pick for the Broncos as well.

According to Pro Football Focus, Yiadom allowed a 53 percent completion percentage on throws his way last season.

That kind of production will fit in well in the No Fly Zone.

One of the main factors playing into this pick likely was the fact that Yiadom also excels on special teams. That was an underrated aspect of the Broncos’ offseason, the fact that they lost so many key special teams players.

In fact, over the past two offseasons, the special teams have taken a hit, but that unit is not immune to roster turnover year after year.

Yiadom has great length at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with nearly 33-inch arms. He does a good job playing press coverage and plays with great instincts and ball skills.

This is a very solid pick for the Broncos, even if somewhat confusing given the team’s lack of quarterback through their top four picks.

I’m not sure many saw that coming.

But if I’ve come to trust John Elway and his staff with any position group over the years, it’s the defensive backfield. Elway has been able to find one gem after another in the defensive backfield, whether in the draft or via free agency.

Yiadom was a player the Broncos had obviously liked a lot dating back to his performance at the Senior Bowl, where he drew a lot of attention and specifically the Broncos, as their coaching staff had the opportunity to work with him hands-on at the even.

There’s no doubt the coaching staff, including Joe Woods, Marcus Robertson, and Greg Williams had influence with this selection.
