Running back

This particular list could be a lot longer. Furthermore, pin pointing five is a tall task for a position that is the deepest it has ever been.

It is worth noting this is under the impression the Denver Broncos do consider Saquon Barkley.

The buzz around the national landscape is he’s headed to the “Big Apple” with the Giants. It can easily change if Sam Darnold heads to the Giants to learn under Eli Manning. This is not the end of the world. There are countless others that can step in and be chosen from. Let’s take a look.

1). Saquon Barkley – 100% my favorite player in this draft. He fits the new wave of patience and letting the blocks set before attacking the hole. Barkley has balance from sideline to sideline. He even has pass catching ability that makes him a complete running back. The Denver Broncos are looking for immediate impact and Saquon Barkley is exactly that.

2). Ronald Jones – Jones is a very gifted runner that can go in-between the tackles or east and west. It is hard looking at Ronald Jones and not thinking of Jamaal Charles. The Denver Broncos brought in Jones on a top-30 visit. That alone shows you what they think of him. He’d be exceptional in Denver.

3). Rashaad Penny – There’s history with San Diego State Aztec running backs. The problem with it and the Denver Broncos is it isn’t good per say. In 2015, Ronnie Hillman played well enough to help win a Super Bowl. As far as a possible starter, Hillman couldn’t do that. Penny is different than all of them. He has the size to pass block, one cut running back and recognize a hole well.

4). Nick Chubb – Chubb at one point in his career was considered the best running back in country. Chubb is a gifted inside running back that is committed to pass blocking and underrated receiving the ball out of the backfield.

5). Kerryon Johnson – There is a unique talent in Kerryon Johnson this year. He is fleet of foot with athleticism to jump cut into a hole. Yet Johnson has the strength to run between the tackles. He could be of interest, but recent history is not kind to Auburn running backs.

6). Royce Freeman – Freeman actually reminds me of CJ Anderson in a lot of ways. He is a bowling ball type running back that bounces off defenders. He also has quickness to set the edge as runner.
