Offensive Line

Musgrave’s offensive line in Oakland was impressive, they ran both power and zone blocking schemes. In order to run both, the linemen needed to be powerful, athletic and agile. The Broncos offensive line was a weakness last year. Adding Jared Veldheer at right tackle and drafting a right guard will help this group take a big step forward in 2018.

As I discussed in a previous post, one target should be Quenton Nelson. The massive Notre Dame guard has the rare blend of size, athleticism and power needed in Musgrave’s offense. If the Broncos don’t draft Nelson in the first round, Will Hernandez from UTEP would be a nice fit.

In the draft, the Broncos could use a late round pick on an offensive tackle to develop. A good choice would be Brandon Parker from North Carolina A&T. Parker is 6’7”, 320 pounds and athletic but he lacks the technique needed to play right away. Parker is likely to be drafted in the 4th or 5th round and would benefit from sitting behind Jared Veldheer.

The 2017 season was rough for the Broncos, especially on offense. During the off-season, the team made improving the offense a priority. The draft presents the last chance for the Broncos to complete their offensive makeover.
