Broncos Trade Riley Dixon to the New York Giants
By Tylor Walden
The writing was on the wall for Riley Dixon once the Denver Broncos signed Marquette King. The Broncos have agreed with the New York Giants to trade Dixon.
Riley Dixon will no longer be the one punting the football for the Denver Broncos. We knew this when Marquette King was signed by the team. It was only a matter of time when it would be official that Dixon would not be wearing the blue and orange.
Now, he will be punting for Big Blue in the Big Apple. Ian Rappoport reported that the Denver Broncos and New York Giants have agreed to a trade that will send the third year punter from Syracuse to the NFC East. In return, the Giants will be sending the Broncos a conditional seventh round draft pick in next year’s draft.
When the Denver Broncos officially signed Marquette King, they placed Riley Dixon on the trading block. When the team began offseason workouts, Dixon was no where to be seen. He wanted to see what would happen. Sure enough, he now has a new team.
RIley Dixon was successful in his first season with the Denver Broncos. He averaged close to 46 yards per punt and only six touchbacks. However, he struggled last season, as did the entire special teams unit.

As far as the trade goes, I think it works for both teams. The Broncos basically got their seventh round pick back and the Giants have a punter after parting ways with Brad Wing in March. Dixon will enter Giants training camp as their starting punter.
The Denver Broncos will continue to improve elsewhere on the team. Hopefully the addition of Marquette King helps the team. As far as Riley Dixon goes, hopefully he finds success in New York.
