For the longest time, my mock drafts have included a starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos at pick number five overall. In my opinion, if there’s a franchise quarterback to be picked there, then the team must choose that player. However, there are other pressing needs for a 5-11 team last year.

Quarterback play could have been a strong suit, but it wasn’t. Trevor Siemian is on a new team and now Case Keenum is the projected starter this season. Keenum is a quarterback that has flaws, but the old adage is always “what have you done for me lately.”

With the Minnesota Vikings, Keenum was a legitimate MVP candidate. It is not out of the realm of possibility Keenum can repeat that success this upcoming campaign.

Offensive line and linebacker might in fact be the most important fixes for the franchise. The Denver Broncos did address the offensive line by way of a trade acquiring Jared Veldheer from Arizona. Veldheer has been linked to Denver for a long time and finally the deal happened.

We can sleep well at night knowing the right tackle position is solved. Right guard is in the same regard. That is, if Connor McGovern starts at right guard, but the team will look to upgrade there in the draft.

The Broncos have been missing a dynamic linebacker duo since Danny Trevathan and Brandon Marshall.

Offensive line has been the more recent need. But over the course of a nearly two decades the Broncos have struggled to find a steady duo.

Wide receiver, receiving tight end, cornerback, and safety are other positions will target in the upcoming draft. Let’s take a look the picks.
