7. Fifth round (149th overall): Brett Toth, OT, Army

Let me explain why this is the ideal offensive line selection for the Denver Broncos. Here’s a quick look at the team’s depth chart along the offensive line as things stand right now.

LT: Garett Bolles
LG: Ron Leary
C: Matt Paradis
RG: Connor McGovern
RT: Jared Veldheer
SWING: Menelik Watson, Cyrus Kouandjio
INTERIOR DEPTH: J.J. Dielman (C), Max Garcia (LG), Billy Turner (RG)

By my count, the Broncos have — currently on their roster — 10 offensive linemen worth taking into the season.

There’s no room right now to add anybody.

Therefore, the Broncos don’t necessarily *need* to draft an offensive lineman that would have to play this year. Could they upgrade and get a player like Quenton Nelson or Will Hernandez, even Austin Corbett or James Daniels, and push someone else off the roster entirely?

Yes.

But for now, I love this scenario for the Broncos because they have a number of players that can play both tackle positions if needed, and Toth would be a future potential starter at right tackle.

He’s shown that kind of potential, and because of the team’s current roster situation, he would go on the reserve/military list, and be a player the Broncos could draft and stash at a future position of need.
