3. Third Round (71st overall): James Washington, WR, Oklahoma State

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why James Washington is not a more highly regarded prospect.

He was probably the best player on either side of the ball at Senior Bowl practices, and in my opinion is the best receiver in this year’s draft at making contested catches.

This is a wide receiver with swag, run after the catch ability, the ability to track the ball deep, and great size and toughness.

Coming from Oklahoma State, he hasn’t run an expanded route tree but he also has the body of a big running back.

Some seem pretty down on his upside to grow as a receiver but I personally am not. The Broncos spoke with him at both the Combine as well as the Senior Bowl. To my knowledge, he hasn’t visited the Broncos’ facility, but that’s not always a pre-requisite for them drafting someone.
