Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma

– Coached Mayfield @ Senior Bowl
– Met with Mayfield @ Scouting Combine
– Attended Mayfield’s pro day (Elway, Russell, Kubiak, Joseph included)
– Hosting Mayfield for official visit (April 16th)

The Broncos have shown a great level of interest in the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner. The only item on this list that is missing is a known significant presence at the 2018 Rose Bowl, which ended up being Mayfield’s final collegiate game.

The Broncos perhaps bet on Mayfield’s Oklahoma Sooners winning that game, and watching him in person in the National Championship, because their top brass stayed in Denver at the time with an end-of-season meeting with head coach Vance Joseph taking priority.

Their lack of a presence at Mayfield’s bowl game aside, the Broncos made it a point to get him on their roster at the 2018 Senior Bowl, and by many accounts, they came away from that encounter impressed.

Mayfield was seen at his pro day giving Gary Kubiak specific attention, and this would seem to be a pretty obvious fit if he were still on the board.
