Former Denver Broncos head coach and current personnel advisor Gary Kubiak was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame…

Former Denver Broncos quarterback, offensive coordinator, head coach, and now senior personnel advisory Gary Kubiak was inducted into the Texas sports Hall of Fame on Saturday evening.

Kubiak’s induction is a great honor, as some of the best athletes in all sports come from the state of Texas, which is especially known for its great football.

Kubiak is a Houston native who played his college ball at Texas A&M after a record-setting high school career as a passer.

His entire NFL career was spent as a backup quarterback to John Elway, and the two have shared a seemingly life-long bond, coming into the NFL together in 1983 and spending a number of years together as player/coach.

It’s no wonder when the Broncos needed a new head coach in 2015, Kubiak was the first person on Elway’s list.

Kubiak is a three-time Super Bowl champion, twice as an offensive coordinator and once as a head coach, and he’s now looking to add to his ring collection as a front office executive. Over the past year, Kubiak has been working for the Broncos semi-remotely from his home state of Texas, scouting players and presumably, helping the Broncos pick their quarterback of the future.

Kubiak certainly had a lot to do with the Broncos’ quarterback of the present, Case Keenum, who was in attendance at the induction ceremony:

John Elway was there for his ‘buddy’ Kubiak as well…

Also present at Kubiak’s induction ceremony were former Texans players Matt Schaub and Kevin Walter, as well as a few players who played for both the Texans and the Broncos with Kubiak in center Chris Myers, tight end Owen Daniels, and obviously Keenum.

Kubiak’s coaching career includes some pretty incredible assignments. In addition to coaching John Elway and the Denver Broncos to a pair of Super Bowls, Kubiak came back to Denver in 2015 to coach future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning.

He also coached Jake Plummer to some of the best years of his career, and he helped make Schaub a Pro Bowl quarterback as well.

Kubiak has done wonders elevating the play of players he coaches at every stop he’s made in the NFL, and this honor he received is absolutely well deserved.

Hopefully this offseason will prove Kubiak’s great eye for quarterback talent, as the Denver Broncos could surely use some stability there right now.
