Here are some of the best, saltiest farewell tweets from Raider Nation to new Denver Broncos punter Marquette King, who signed Thursday…

Marquette King is one of the best specialists in the NFL, and he’s now a member of the Denver Broncos.

Because he was cut from the Oakland Raiders inexplicably, and because he immediately expressed a desire to play specifically for the Denver Broncos, Raider Nation is understandably salty.

When Raider Nation is salty, there’s no better place to be than parked on Twitter, watching it all unfold. King simply tweeted this:

I’ve compiled some of the top responses.

Enjoy.

On a conference call with Denver media, King was asked whether or not he felt like he was let go from the Raiders for his post-punt celebrations. He said he didn’t think that was the case, but did have an interesting statement:

"The cool thing about the Broncos is the people that work at the Broncos encourage you to be yourself.Marquette King (quotes via Broncos PR)"

That statement would seem to imply that with the Raiders, King did not feel that was the culture being created. Perhaps even more shocking? King never once spoke to his new head coach, Jon Gruden.

"“I never got a chance to talk to him. I just saw him on car commercials and stuff (laughing). I get to see him two times a year.”"

It’s no wonder King wanted a chance to come to Denver and get a little revenge on his former team. It doesn’t sound like his exit was a very pleasant one, nor does it sound like it was handled very well in general.

In February of 2016, King signed a five-year, $16.5 million contract with the Raiders. He signed for a fraction of that with the Broncos now just two years later.
