The Denver Broncos might be interested in signing former Raiders punter Marquette King. The team reportedly contacted King’s agent…

The Denver Broncos are interested in bringing in former Raider Marquette King to improve production on their punting unit.

According to Mike Klis of 9NEWS, the Broncos have contacted King’s agent.

King was released by the Raiders last week. He spent the last six seasons with Oakland after becoming an undrafted free agent.

The Raiders decided to go with Colby Wadman, a rookie out of UC Davis, instead of King.

The Broncos as a whole were not successful last season, and there are plenty of places on the team to improve on. The team’s current punter, Riley Dixon, had a long punt in 2017 that went for 60 yards.

In comparison, King’s longest was 65 yards. During last season, Dixon had two of his punts blocked and one punt returned for a touchdown. King hasn’t had a punt blocked in two seasons.

King averaged 47.4 yards per punt in 2017 and in their game at Denver against the Broncos, he averaged 51 yards on six punts.

The news of King’s release from the Raiders shocked many people. Why would they release one of the best punters in the league? There were reports that new-old Raiders head coach Jon Gruden wasn’t a fan of the long-time kicker.

The addition of King to the Broncos would likely receive mixed reviews. Sure, anything to help the team succeed would be good; however, King may not be welcomed with open arms right away due to the fact that he is a former Raider. He also is known to taunt the opposing team, which isn’t a good look.

Regardless of how he might be welcomed (or not), if the Broncos feel like King would be an improvement, they should sign him. He is considered one of the best punters in the league today and would compete with Dixon in training camp to decide who will be the team’s punter during the 2018 season.

So, Broncos Country, what say you? Would you like to see King in a Broncos uniform?
