The Denver Broncos hosted Colorado running back Phillip Lindsay and a number of local prospects for a workout before the 2018 NFL Draft…

The Denver Broncos reportedly hosted former Colorado Buffaloes running back Phillip Lindsay and a number of other local prospects for a workout on Tuesday.

Lindsay was also a star performer at the Colorado pro day where he ran a sub-4.4 second 40-yard dash and showed off his athleticism, backing up athletically what he did on the field with two straight seasons over 1,200 yards and 30 touchdowns in that time period.

Predominantly Orange staff writer Cameron Parker wrote about why the Broncos should draft Lindsay, and there’s definitely a chance the team gives him a look. Whether or not they would pick him in the top five rounds remains to be seen.

These prospects are likely all undrafted types of players, and the Broncos getting them in for a workout doesn’t count against their top 30 or preferred 30 pre-draft visits. Because these prospects are local, Denver is allowed to have these guys in for a workout without it counting against that total.

There’s nothing to lose here for either party. The Broncos would probably love to add some local talent after the draft, as they have done in almost every year since John Elway has been running the show.

Some of these guys turn out to be diamonds in the rough and the Broncos are one of the best teams at developing unheralded talent coming out of the draft.

Obviously the headliner here is Phillip Lindsay, who was easily the most productive player in this group statistically.

What he was able to do at his size over the past two years in the PAC 12 is nothing short of remarkable.

The Broncos are also reportedly hosting San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny for a pre-draft visit today, and they no doubt had someone representing them at Boise State’s pro day to watch linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, a possible 1st-2nd round draft target.
