Former Denver Broncos first round pick Paxton Lynch has hired Tom Brady’s ‘body guru’ Alex Guerrero to re-shape himself for the 2018 season…

Former first round pick and the most recent quarterback to start a game for the Denver Broncos Paxton Lynch is training hard this offseason.

Lynch has enlisted the help of Alex Guerrero to ready himself for a quarterback battle in 2018. Guerrero is known best in the football community as Tom Brady’s ‘body guru’, and I love the fact that Lynch is putting in the extra work.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news:

This may be as much about re-shaping Lynch’s public image as well as his physical makeup. He finished the season on a pretty positive note individually, even though the Broncos were unable to win their week 17 matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Though much of the focus that game was on Mahomes and his NFL debut, Lynch made some really nice plays in that game and battled his way back onto the field from multiple injuries that almost completely washed away his 2017 season.

Lynch hasn’t had a big enough sample size in the NFL to make a permanent determination on his future. The Broncos have maintained publicly that they have not given up on their former first rounder, and it makes sense because the two guys who probably had the most to do with drafting him — John Elway and Gary Kubiak — are still around.

There are rumors that Lynch was not the guy Kubiak wanted in 2016, and if that’s the case and Elway has really given Kubiak the ability to make decisions about who will be the quarterback going forward, the Broncos and Lynch may not be long for each other.

The writing is already sort of on the wall.

Lynch’s best case scenario at this point is likely to be the backup quarterback to Case Keenum, who is entering the 2018 season as the undisputed starter for the Broncos, according to both John Elway and Vance Joseph.

The Broncos are also very serious about taking a quarterback with their fifth overall pick, but if they see strides from Lynch in mid-April, it’s possible their confidence in him could be renewed.

After all, the Broncos have their three quarterbacks in house under contract for at least the next two years, three if they want it. They could bring back Keenum on the franchise tag if absolutely necessary, or next offseason they could exercise Lynch’s fifth-year rookie option.

Even if those options are not likely, they are available to the Broncos.

Chad Kelly is also under contract for another three seasons.

If the Broncos draft a quarterback fifth overall, it does send some odd messages throughout the locker room and to the fan base. Should the fan base clamor for the rookie if Keenum has any sign of struggling?

As much as players like to say they don’t listen to the outside noise, you can’t avoid gameday chants for the backup quarterback or the hotshot rookie.

Just ask Kyle Orton.

The Broncos don’t have to take a quarterback at five overall, but right now it seems like they probably will.

If that’s the case, Lynch’s offseason work may just to be to impress potential suitors in a trade.

Only time will tell.
