The Denver Broncos will reportedly host cornerback Devron Davis for a pre-draft visit. Davis is a man-cover cornerback with excellent size…

The Denver Broncos will host former UTSA cornerback and 2018 NFL Draft prospect Devron Davis for a visit, Predominantly Orange has learned. This has also been confirmed by national reports, notably from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Davis is a 6-foot, 205 pound cornerback who excels in man coverage.

UTSA has multiple players that will likely be drafted in 2018, including Davis and his teammate Marcus Davenport, who is one of the top edge players in the draft.

Davis is one of the most physical defensive backs in this year’s draft. The Broncos, no doubt, love that part of his game.

Davis also reportedly will meet with the Seahawks prior to the draft, but because he didn’t receive an invitation to the Scouting Combine, he will likely be making plenty of visits prior to the 2018 NFL Draft.

The cousin of Vernon and Vontae Davis, as well as Chiefs defensive back Stephen Nelson, Devron is a former running back who could potentially step in as a nickel defensive back for the Broncos and a key special teams player right away.

I got a chance to talk to Davis earlier this offseason, and he specifically mentioned Champ Bailey as a player he’s always looked up to as a fellow defensive back.

Davis’ road to the NFL has gone through Junior College, a familiar story for many players the Broncos have coveted in the draft in recent years. This is the type of playmaker the Broncos seek out in the defensive backfield. He’s gone underrated throughout his collegiate career but after really re-establishing himself at UTSA, it’s a shock he wasn’t at least invited to the Combine.

After taking cornerback Brendan Langley in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Davis could come in and provide the Broncos with another extremely gifted athlete who can play a couple of positions, and perhaps position himself for a critical role going forward.

Right now, many project Davis as a day three selection.
