Fifth Round (160th overall): Brett Toth, OT, Army

Why Brett Toth?

The Broncos may not be able to house eight rookies on their roster this year, so either trading up in one of these rounds or using a pick on a player like Brett Toth makes all the sense in the world.

Denver obviously needs a solution at the right tackle position in the future, and that could very well be Jared Veldheer (who would need a contract extension beyond this season). But it could also be Toth.

The Broncos were said to really like Toth at the Senior Bowl and he’s definitely got the type of mauler personality they would look for. He needs some work on his pass protection, but with his military responsibilities, Toth could possibly be drafted and placed on the reserve/military list, giving the Broncos a player they believe in long-term but not taking up a roster spot for a while.

This would be an excellent pick for Denver, which doesn’t need a tackle right now but might in a year or two.
