Fourth Round (113th overall): Ian Thomas, TE, Indiana

Why Ian Thomas

The Broncos have an intriguing young group of tight ends right now, but they are missing a piece or two in the passing game.

Jeff Heuerman has shown flashes of what he can be as a receiver, but not consistent enough for the Broncos to rely on him full-time.

The ‘addition’ of Jake Butt this year should really help the Broncos at this position, but another athletic playmaker is needed and I think that’s what Thomas provides.

Thomas would give the Broncos a player that can line up in-line or be flexed around the field, and I think Butt gives them that flexibility as well. Thomas is not quite as big as Butt, but definitely showed at the Combine that he’s an elite level athlete.

With Thomas’ athleticism and Jake Butt’s ability to play in-line, the Broncos would have some nice weapons at this spot with size, strong hands, and the ability to create mismatches in any formation.
