Third Round (71st overall): Rashaad Penny, RB, San Diego State

Why Rashaad Penny?

The Broncos may be looking to add a new ‘featured’ back in this year’s draft if the price is right, and there may be no better value than the nation’s leading rusher in the third round of the draft.

Rashaad Penny has the ability to be a bell-cow running back, though like almost every college back coming out, he needs to get better on third downs in pass protection.

Penny ran all over defenses the past two years at San Diego State, and despite receiving a lion’s share of carries this past season, there’s not too much wear and tear here. He was only a full-time starter for one season at San Diego State, but racked up nearly 3,400 yards total over the past two years.

This guy consistently finds a way to gain big chunks of yardage, and would likely become the Broncos’ starting running back sooner than later.
