Paxton Lynch: If Denver goes quarterback

If John Elway decides to draft a quarterback in the first round, there are plenty of options on what could happen to Lynch. Even though the team said they are not giving up on Lynch, the tune could change if a Josh Rosen or Baker Mayfield is drafted.

One move that could make sense is that the Broncos decide to trade Paxton Lynch. There could be some suitors in that regard if there is a team that misses on one of the quarterbacks in the draft. However, that move might not happen.

Drafting a quarterback would put a clock on Paxton Lynch’s time in Denver. However long it lasts will depend on what John Elway thinks. My thought is that he will be in Denver for at least one more year. 2019 will be very important for all the quarterbacks on the roster at that time.

The big wild card in this is Chad Kelly. Let’s say that he impresses enough to be the backup quarterback. That could also spell the end of Paxton Lynch. Being beat out by seventh round quarterbacks just would not sit well.

It is going to take a lot to get Paxton Lynch out of Denver. So, either way, he is safe. But if the stars do align, we could see Lynch out of Denver.
