Denver Broncos: Fred Warner will take pre-draft visit
The Denver Broncos will host BYU linebacker Fred Warner, one of the best all-around players at the position, for a pre-draft visit…
The Denver Broncos re-signed Todd Davis at the inside linebacker, and brought in a strong safety in Su’a Cravens who can probably line up some at the linebacker position or at least play a bunch in the box if needed, but this team will most definitely be in the market for an off-ball linebacker in the 2018 NFL Draft.
With that being the case, the team’s first reported pre-draft visit for a player at that position will be with BYU Cougars linebacker Fred Warner.
The visit was reported by Warner to Sirius XM radio:
Even with the re-signing of Davis and the addition of Cravens, the Broncos are looking to the future here by adding an inside linebacker prospect that has the ability to eventually start but make an instant impact covering backs and tight ends out of the backfield. One guy (Cravens) can’t be everywhere on the field at the same time.

Even though the Broncos added a great matchup player in Cravens, looking to a linebacker like Warner is a great idea, especially with two picks in the third round.
Warner, who stands 6-foot-3, 227 pounds, is a bit undersized for a traditional linebacker, but he has been incredibly productive and showed off his strength and athleticism at the 2018 Scouting Combine.
A three-year starter at BYU, Warner finished his career with the Cougars with 262 total tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 6.5 sacks, three fumbles forced, and five recoveries.
This guy is athletic, he can cover, and he has also shown he has the ability to make plays behind the line of scrimmage.
In a draft that is absolutely loaded at linebacker, Warner has some of the biggest upside in coverage and with a whopping seven interceptions in college, it’s easy to see why so many teams are coveting him in the pre-draft process.
