The Denver Broncos have been wheeling and dealing this offseason. Here’s their updated 2018 NFL Draft order following the moves…

The Denver Broncos have been wheeling and dealing on the trade market this offseason, and while they have certainly spread out some of their moves, they have had a huge impact on the roster and on the Broncos’ 2018 NFL Draft capital.

After the team’s’ trade for Su’a Cravens with the Washington Redskins, their trade of Trevor Siemian to the Vikings, and the other recent acquisition of Jared Veldheer from the Cardinals, the Broncos’ draft picks look a bit different.

Here’s their updated 2018 draft order:

First Round: 5th overall
Second Round: 40th overall
Third Round: 71st overall
Third Round: 99th overall (compensatory)
Fourth Round: 106th overall
Fourth Round: 113th overall (from Redskins)
Fifth Round: 149th overall (from Redskins)
Fifth Round: 160th overall (from Rams)

The Broncos are now armed with eight picks, as they traded away their sixth rounder for Veldheer, their seventh rounder along with Siemian to the Vikings, and a fifth rounder to the Redskins for Cravens (in addition to swapping some picks in each round).

All eight picks are in the top five rounds, and the Broncos still hold two picks in each of the third round, fourth round, and fifth round.

That kind of draft capital is unlike really anything the Broncos have had in recent years. They had 11 picks at one point, but it was obvious they wouldn’t bring in 11 rookies to come in and take spots on this roster. That’s an entire fifth of the team right there. Now with just eight picks, the Broncos have flexibility to move up a time or two if they want.

The Broncos have done quite a bit of trading this offseason, acquiring multiple starter caliber players while also saving some cap space. The Broncos have also had a couple of other trades fall through, including their initial pursuit of Tyrod Taylor as well as the potential trade for Ja’Wuan James with the Miami Dolphins.
