The Denver Broncos lost free agent wide receiver Cody Latimer to the New York Giants. He becomes one of many to join New York…
There hasn’t necessarily been a mass exodus of players going out of Denver this offseason, but one of the league’s worst offenses has lost yet another piece with Cody Latimer heading to the New York Giants.
Latimer, still only 25 years old, had 19 catches this past season for 287 yards and two scores.
His 19 catches were more than he’d caught in the previous three seasons combined.
Latimer was selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, when the Broncos actually traded up to get him and felt like he could adequately replace what they were losing in Eric Decker.
That was obviously not the case, and the case is officially closed on Latimer whose career in Denver didn’t work out, to say the least.

All of that being said, Latimer was a Super Bowl champion with the Broncos, and he became a phenomenal special teams player. I still will never understand why he wasn’t given at least one or two screen passes every game from the moment he was drafted, just to see what he could do after the catch with his phenomenal athleticism.
The Broncos tried him as a kick returner, and he did okay there, but his best year came in 2017 and it was as a number three/four option in one of the league’s worst passing attacks.
Hopefully, Latimer can jump-start his career with the Giants, though he will have to do so with plenty of competition and a number of familiar faces.
Latimer is about the 100th former Broncos receiver to join the Giants in the past year, joining Brandon Marshall, Kalif Raymond, Tavarres King, and Hunter Sharp.
All kidding aside, this situation could be a good one for Latimer to establish himself as a number two receiver with Odell Beckham Jr. on the other side of the field and Sterling Shepard in the slot.
