According to a report from Albert Breer of The MMQB, the Denver Broncos are looking into moving up for a quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft…

The New York Jets aren’t the only team that has looked into moving up in the 2018 NFL Draft, they are just the only ones that have pulled the trigger on a deal up to this point.

The Denver Broncos are reportedly among the teams that have been looking into moving up, or have looked into moving up in this year’s draft to select a quarterback.

Albert Breer of The MMQB reported on the Jets’ decision to trade a first round pick and three second round picks to move up three spots in the draft just to secure a potential franchise quarterback.

In his piece, Breer notes that the Broncos are among the teams (Bills and Cardinals included) that have also looked into moving up in this year’s draft…

"Additionally, my understanding is that the team is comfortable with the top four quarterbacks in this year’s class—Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield and Allen. And with the Bills, Cardinals and Broncos looking at the idea of moving up, being aggressive became vital.Albert Breer"

This doesn’t mean the Broncos will move up, but they are among the teams most seriously considering it.

After the Jets’ trade with the Colts, it seems like moving up in this year’s draft is going to cost a substantial amount, more than the Broncos can realistically offer. Based on what the Jets gave the Colts, it would cost the Broncos at least this year’s first and second round picks, as well as their first and second round picks in next year’s draft to get a deal done.

The Jets had the luxury at least of an additional second rounder in this year’s draft.

This puts the Buffalo Bills at the greatest advantage, because they have two first round picks this year, as well as three second round picks and two third round picks.

Buffalo is not hurting for draft capital in the slightest.

As a matter of fact, they could trade up into the second overall slot and likely keep one of their second round picks if they want. They could give up their two first round picks, two of their second round picks, and a third round pick, and I think the Giants would likely take that deal.

The Cardinals have less draft capital than the Broncos do, so they are a pretty unrealistic option at this point unless they are willing to really sell out on picks.

What we know is that the Broncos have explored or are exploring the option of trading up in this year’s draft. What we don’t know (and what seems unlikely) is whether or not they will pull the trigger on a deal. It seems like that could happen (likely the Bills) in the near future.
