Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum has officially signed his contract, and chose a new jersey number with his new team…

The Denver Broncos officially have a new quarterback.

Case Keenum is at the Broncos’ facility on Thursday to officially sign his contract, and there’s some fun photographic evidence to prove it.

Keenum also chose a new jersey number, though he’s rocked the number seven Broncos jersey before.

As for the new jersey number he will wear? (Spoiler alert, 7 is not an option…)

Keenum will wear number four, which — if I’m not mistaken — has never been worn by a starting quarterback with the Denver Broncos.

The last quarterback to wear it in general was Austin Davis, who was signed as an emergency quarterback in 2016.

Because the Broncos have really no history with this number at the quarterback position (shout out to Super Bowl 50 champion punter Britton Colquitt, though), I love this decision by Keenum.

He’s worn either number seven or number 17 in his NFL career to this point, and this is a fun changeup since obviously seven is not available in Denver.

There have also been some other players to wear 17 in recent years, most notably Brock Osweiler, and it was time for that number to be given a rest at the quarterback position.

The single digit number four will work well for Keenum and will help him establish a unique identity with the Broncos. He’s not taking someone else’s number. He’s not going to remind anyone of Osweiler with 17. He’s going to create his own Broncos legacy.

I love the post on his Twitter account with the Louisville brand Broncos jersey. That just goes to show that even if Keenum was not a die-hard Broncos fan his whole life (he may well have been), he was at least a big John Elway fan.

That picture reminds me of my childhood, a photo taken on a disposable Kodak camera with prints picked up at an actual photo store (those did exist) and I think many Broncos fans in this generation can relate to that.

It certainly goes a long way to making this guy likable.

Welcome to the Broncos, Case.
