The loss of Aqib Talib opened the door for a new cornerback and it is Tramaine Brock for the Denver Broncos…

Well, the Denver Broncos will lose one Brock, but gain another in free agency. The Broncos signed free agent cornerback Tramaine Brock to a one-year deal worth $4 million.

He has spent the bulk of his career with the San Francisco 49ers before joining both the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings in 2017.

The 29-year old fits the bill of the veteran cornerback the Denver Broncos needed. Brock has familiarity with head coach Vance Joseph during Joseph’s days in San Francisco as a defensive backs coach from 2006-2010.

He has a career total of 189 tackles, three forced fumbles, 11 interceptions, 44 pass deflections, and one touchdown.

Bradley Roby taking Aqib Talib’s spot and patience with Brendan Langley opened the door for another player to be signed. The Broncos like Langley’s promise, but since he is still learning the position transitioning from a wide receiver, a veteran upgrade was necessary.

Marcus Rios is another player factoring into the depth at cornerback. Again, this signing should not take them away from adding depth at the most important positions. If the Broncos plan to spend the most money not on a quarterback, then expect it on the offensive and defensive line.

It has the appearance of an underwhelming signing, but this is where John Elway truly makes his mark. These low key free agent signing have paid huge dividends to the depth on this team. It’s possible this acquisition of Brock might put the Denver Broncos back in the conversation of adding a corner in the NFL Draft.

We have movement in free agency and expect more to come.
