Path to the Super Bowl

For the time being the Patriots, Steelers, and Chargers appear to be the biggest threats in the AFC to contend going forward. I mean no disrespect to other teams in the running, but those teams are the biggest threats to me.

Surely a case could be made for a number of other teams, but I’m not overly sold on any others.

Maybe Houston.

That said, the path to the Super Bowl in the AFC involves the Patriots, Steelers, and Chargers, whose quarterbacks are all in the final couple years of their career.

In the NFC? It’s a completely different story. Not only would signing with the Vikings pit you against Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers twice a year every year, but to get out of the NFC, right now you have to get past:

The Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Jimmy G and the 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, and the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

The path to the Super Bowl in the NFC looks incredibly daunting, and only one of those teams I mentioned has a quarterback on his way out (Brees).

I am not implying that Cousins is looking for the easiest path to the Super Bowl or that he’s afraid of competition, but look at the NFC right now versus the AFC. The Broncos have a chance to be special with Cousins on board, and they have a much more favorable road to a title given simply the level of competition they would  face in comparison to the Vikings.
