Josh Allen to the Denver Broncos in the 2018 NFL Draft seems to be picking up some steam. What is the likelihood of Denver drafting him?

I’m not saying, I’m just saying…

Where there’s smoke, there could be fire, and there seem to be a lot of people coming out after the Scouting Combine and connecting the Denver Broncos to Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen.

Matt Miller posted a seven-round mock draft with Allen to the Broncos at number five overall. He’s had Allen going to the Broncos in a number of mock drafts this offseason.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com also posted a brand new first round mock draft with the Broncos passing on Josh Rosen and Baker Mayfield to take Allen.

Broncos insider Troy Renck also seems to think Denver has taken a liking to Allen after what they’ve seen from him the past couple of months…

Mike Klis made a mention of Allen and the Broncos, possibly a little rise for him on their pre-draft board could be implied by that…

As many of you know, Allen is not my first choice. If the Broncos are going to draft a quarterback, I think there are at least two — if not more — more NFL ready guys in this year’s draft than Allen.

Allen certainly has the intangible qualities from a work ethic standpoint, the arm talent (in spades), and the size/athletic ability that teams covet in a possible franchise quarterback. But even I can’t deny the fact that this kid looks impressive as heck at times.

I also can’t deny the possibility that the Broncos like him the best of the quarterbacks in this year’s draft. I saw with my own two eyes at the Senior Bowl, in the morning at the hotel/convention center lobby, Allen walk in with new Broncos quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan.

Clearly, the two were taking advantage of being able to spend some extra time together.

The Broncos got to work first-hand with Allen at the Senior Bowl. They met with him at the Scouting Combine. They are planning to bring him to Denver for a pre-draft visit.

There’s no question the interest is there from the Broncos’ perspective, and John Elway was also in attendance at Allen’s bowl game in Idaho.

When John Elway comes to the Idaho Potato Bowl to watch you play in person, you clearly have his interest.

That being said, I don’t know whether the Broncos prefer Allen over another quarterback in this year’s draft class. They might. Drafting Allen would likely send a large sect of Broncos country into a panicked frenzy, because the guy has serious issues with accuracy.

Obviously if you can get this guy to be the best version of himself, his potential is through the roof. He has made some of the best throws I have ever seen, just in the past couple of months.

The talent is there. I think the desire to be better is there.

Where is the Broncos’ interest?
