Third Round (71st and 99th Overall)

Draft Baker Mayfield, why not bring in his teammate to the Denver Broncos as well? With so many questions at the tight end position, this will likely be addressed in the offseason.

Jake Butt will be coming off of “redshirting” his rookie season. Virgil Green will likely be gone. Jeff Heuerman has not produced at the level Denver was hoping he would. If Mayfield does get drafted by Denver, it would be nice to have a player that already has developed a connection with him.

The only issue is that he does not block well. So, to me, he is likely a pass-catching tight end. But he could provide that mismatch in that position that the Broncos have been looking for.

I have talked about this prospect before, so it goes without saying that he could be the real deal in the NFL. With Todd Davis likely going elsewhere via free agency, the Broncos are going to need a linebacker to compliment Brandon Marshall.

This inside linebacker can stop the run and defend the pass well. I don’t see him likely going past round two, but it would be something to be in the late third round and see him on the board still. Defense does win championships and there is no doubt I feel he could help solve some issues.
