Denver Broncos have detailed plan in place if Kirk Cousins signs

The Denver Broncos reportedly have a detailed plan in place of what they will do with their roster if Kirk Cousins signs as a free agent…

Despite rumors that the Denver Broncos have been eliminated from the Kirk Cousins derby, it seems they do not think themselves completely out of the mix.

The same would go for the Arizona Cardinals, who were recently also named part of Cousins’ top four destinations.

According to MMQB insider Albert Breer, all of the Broncos, Cardinals, Vikings, and Jets have plans in place of how they would shape their rosters with Cousins as the front man.

"“The Jets, Cardinals, Broncos and Vikings all have detailed plans on they plan to build around Cousins and make him the face of their franchise. We’ve mentioned in a couple GamePlan columns how, after a messy couple years in Washington, he wants to find a team that he can make his own and one that has deep belief in him. This report doesn’t make it sound like the Broncos have been eliminated from contention for Cousins, does it?

This report makes it seem the opposite, in fact. In less than a week’s time, we have been told:

That the Broncos have backup plans for Cousins;

That they are all-in on Cousins;

That their pursuit of Cousins will be Manning-esque;

That Cousins is basically a lock to go to the Vikings;

Cousins will take free agent visits;

The Broncos are in the final four;

Cousins — and the teams involved — will abide by the NFL’s tampering rules;

And that Cousins has eliminated the Broncos from contention altogether.

What are we supposed to believe? The answer to that question is probably ‘nothing’ at this point in time.

Cousins hasn’t yet met formally with any teams. That report from Breer seems to indicate that meeting with teams formally might not be a requirement for Cousins, but it’s still a possibility.

If the Broncos are able to get a face-to-face meeting with Cousins, they should still be in play. If they do not, and Cousins really does already have his mind made up that he’s going to the Vikings, then hopefully Denver has a great plan.
