Kirk Cousins has Denver Broncos among final four
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Denver Broncos are among the final four teams vying for Kirk Cousins‘ services in free agency…
The Kirk Cousins sweepstakes is reportedly down to four teams, and the Denver Broncos are among them.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the other teams that will be involved with Cousins are the Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Jets.
Not in any particular order.
Here’s Schefter’s original report:
I don’t think this news comes as any surprise, and in fact, I would even think this list could be whittled down to two teams — the Broncos and Vikings.
Teams like the Cleveland Browns or any other potential darkhorse team aren’t mentioned here. Even though the Browns have a ton of cap space and a fairly talented, young roster, that’s something that Cousins just isn’t going to gamble on.
He wants to go somewhere he can win, which would seem to narrow the choices down to Denver and Minnesota, who have the two best rosters among those four teams.

I’m going to put together a big post closer to the start of free agency laying out reasons why I think the Broncos are the best option, but there are reasons to believe that Cousins would choose Denver, believe it or not.
The Vikings are not holding all the cards in this situation, even though they present a very compelling case for Cousins as well.
By all accounts, it sounds like Cousins is going to want to take free agent visits before ultimately deciding on his next team. If that’s the case, the Broncos are the only team on this list that can sell Cousins on having won a title recently. The Vikings played in last year’s NFC Championship game, which is obviously their huge advantage. But winning Super Bowl 50 plays a factor for the Broncos.
This should be a fascinating situation to watch unfold, as the Broncos are also knee deep at the NFL Scouting Combine, watching one of the most talented quarterback classes we’ve seen in a while.
If the Broncos miss out on Cousins, they will be able to select a great player in the draft.
