Fifth Round (142nd overall): Shaquem Griffin, LB, UCF
With their first pick in the fifth round, the Broncos take one of the most inspirational players in this year’s draft class.
I have a feeling every fan base around the league is going to be campaigning for their team to draft this young man, and for good reason.
After a couple years at UCF with his brother and not having a solidified position, Scott Frost‘s staff came in and moved Griffin from safety to linebacker, and he became a conference defensive player of the year.
From 2016-17, he has been incredibly productive not just playing off-ball linebacker, but rushing the passer, making plays behind the line of scrimmage, and playing in coverage.
Griffin is missing his left hand, but it has never really seemed to slow him down or limit him on the field.
I think when you look at the type of value you’re getting in the player with this pick, Griffin is a steal.
