Pierre Desir, Indianapolis Colts (age: 27)

2017 Stats: 9 games (6 starts), 32 total tackles, 1 INT

Pierre Desir was once a fourth round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns, who came from small school Lindenwood University and became a pre-draft favorite of many back in 2014.

Since being drafted by the Browns, Desir has largely failed to live up to his reputation coming out of All-Star season ahead of the 2014 NFL Draft, but he put together some really nice tape this past season for the Indianapolis Colts (and again, defensive backs coach Greg Robinson).

If the Broncos are going to start afresh at the cornerback position, a younger player like Desir who seems to be coming into his own makes sense. In addition to his one interception this past season, he broke up seven passes and played pretty well in his six starts.

I’m not saying Desir is the sole reason for this, but against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Antonio Brown was held to just 47 yards and three catches with Desir in coverage, and against the Bengals, A.J. Green was held to three catches for 27 yards (though his performance included a touchdown).

Desir might not be a flawless player, but he’s an interesting option who has connections with Denver’s new defensive backs coach.
