The Denver Broncos plan on having top quarterback prospect Josh Rosen for a pre-draft visit, according to GM John Elway…

The Denver Broncos will get their first up-close-and-personal look at UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine this week in Indianapolis, but they are hoping to get to know him a little better as the pre-draft process plays out.

Speaking to the media in a side session after his main press conference, Elway revealed that the team would like to have the former UCLA star out to Dove Valley for a visit prior to the 2018 draft.

This isn’t a huge surprise, but the Broncos are afforded just 30 pre-draft visits to their team headquarters, so this would indicate they are down to the nitty gritty in terms of evaluating these quarterbacks on a very personal level.

This is an important part of the evaluation process.

The Broncos need to know what they are getting into if they make any sort of long-term investment in a quarterback, and there have been questions about Rosen’s personality.

My guess is, they will find him to be a highly intelligent, very insightful young man.

I do not view Rosen as a character concern, unlike some other draft analysts and experts. I do, however, take seriously the claims that he doesn’t work well with coaches. That would be a major red flag.

When interviewing for a job, I don’t really know how you evaluate the longevity of Rosen’s personality profile meshing with the guys you have in-house.

I think on a rookie contract, that’s not going to be anything to really worry about. Unless Rosen lights it up year one, and starts acting like he knows everything and stops taking any sort of coaching, I don’t think this is really an issue. I would actually prefer it if Rosen were digging so much into the playbook and his film study that he felt he knew what was best for a certain situation.

I seem to remember one Peyton Manning operating a similar way…

I really like Rosen and think if you get him with that fifth overall pick or even trade up a bit to get him, that is a huge win for this offseason. The Broncos seem to be narrowing their choices at quarterback right now in the draft, and Rosen could be at the top of the list…
