The Denver Broncos are reportedly interested in trading for Washington Redskins safety Su’a Cravens, a former second rounder out of USC…
Don’t blink this time of year in the NFL, or you might miss something.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Denver Broncos are in talks to trade for Washington Redskins’ recently reinstated defensive back Su’a Cravens, a 2016 second rounder out of USC.
Here was the report from Rap Sheet, just as John Elway stepped away from the podium at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine…
The #Broncos are in talks to trade for #Redskins S Su’a Cravens, sources say. They are the team most interested and the likely landing spot for the talented former 2nd rounder, though no deal is done yet.

Now, we aren’t yet sure how advanced these discussions are, but since being reinstated by the NFL, it’s been reported that the Redskins have been shopping Cravens.
The former second round pick and USC Trojan has the ability and style of play the Broncos sort of missed last year in T.J. Ward.

The Broncos let go of Ward for financial purposes as well as to bring along some younger players, but perhaps they realized his importance to the defense overall, as a defensive back that could at least body up with tight ends and backs, as well as mix it up in the box and play downhill.
Considering some of the stuff that has gone down over the past year with Cravens off the field, it would be shocking if the Redskins got great value for him. Though, Rap Sheet did say that the Broncos are the team ‘most’ interested in him, which means the Redskins potentially have other suitors.
Denver’s pick in the second round is number 40 overall, and some have brought that pick up as the one up for grabs in this scenario. That would be incredibly foolish of the Broncos, even for a young player that could upgrade their defensive backfield.
Cravens would be a solid ‘buy low’ option for Denver, so hopefully that’s what they are doing. They should do their best to give up a conditional pick, seeing that Cravens was recently mulling stepping away from the game entirely.
If and/or when this deal goes down, we’ll have more on Cravens and what he brings to the table.
