Second Round (pick 1/2): Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State

Many draft analysts who read this may not like Rudolph to the Broncos, and that’s okay.

I happen to think he’s one of the most underrated quarterbacks in this year’s draft.

Over the past three years, Rudolph has consistently improved in terms of his pocket presence, escape-ability, accuracy downfield, and ability to go through progressions.

Not to mention, I think Rudolph is one of the cleanest prospects in this year’s draft in terms of his off-field concerns. There really aren’t any. When you look at the guys at the top of this draft class, each carries some level of concern.

For Sam Darnold, it’s his mechanics and decision-making in games. For Josh Rosen, it’s whether or not he can stay healthy and if he will get along with coaches. For Baker Mayfield, it’s his character in general and whether or not his fiery personality will get him into too much trouble. For Josh Allen, it’s accuracy.

I don’t think there’s any one major concern I have for Rudolph. He’s sort of just a really solid all-around player, though not spectacular in any one particular area.

With Keenum signing essentially a two-year deal in this situation, the Broncos would be able to move to Rudolph whenever they wanted.
