TRADE: Broncos trade 5th overall pick to Dolphins for 11th overall pick, 2nd round picks in 2018, 2019

First Round: Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

So there are some layers to this pick.

First of all, the Broncos make a move down with a surprise team — the Miami Dolphins — who are rumored to love Baker Mayfield in this year’s draft.

If the Broncos have Keenum, they could obviously opt to take Mayfield themselves, or they could move down and reap the benefits in terms of some valuable additional picks, both this year and next year.

The Dolphins would be paying the steep price of two additional second rounders to move up from 11 to 5, but that’s the going rate anymore.

In Roquan Smith, the Broncos would be adding a big time playmaker to their linebacker group, and one of the most athletic, rangy linebackers in the draft. Smith is capable of single-handedly wrecking an offensive game plan, and I think with his instincts at the position, he’d elevate the Broncos’ defense to new heights. He’s a special, special talent.
