Other Free Agency Moves

If the Broncos were to sign Keenum and get him at a cap hit under $15 million for year one, they would be able to do a lot of other things in free agency to supplement the roster.

From everything we’re hearing, the Broncos’ top option is to address the quarterback position in free agency and use the fifth overall pick in the draft on another starter at a different position. If that’s the case, then if they had additional cash to spend in free agency, that fifth overall pick could become a real luxury.

Adding Keenum would be a solid start, but then you could look at making other moves like signing free agent guard Josh Sitton, tight end Trey Burton, right tackle Cameron Fleming, or maybe make a really big splash on the line and get Andrew Norwell from the Panthers.

This scenario would also potentially allow the Broncos to keep Aqib Talib, which at this point could be a huge win.

For the purposes of the mock draft, I’m going to say that Denver finds a way to address the right tackle, left guard, and tight end positions with viable starting options via free agency after signing Keenum.

Let’s move on to the draft…
