The Denver Broncos are going to cover all their bases when it comes to the quarterback position for 2018 and beyond. They will undoubtedly be in on Kirk Cousins in free agency, but with the recent news that the Vikings will not franchise tag Case Keenum, many feel like Denver’s top competition has just entered the quarterback market.

The Vikings present a great situation for Cousins, and there’s rumored to be mutual interest between the two. The Broncos also present a strong case and many veteran players that Cousins would certainly consider, but will the Broncos put all their eggs in that basket?

I think Denver will make a strong offer to Cousins, similar to most any other one he will receive as an unrestricted free agent. For Cousins, it’s going to come down to long-term fit.

Whether or not that’s in Denver is up in the air at this point, for the purposes of our weekly Denver Broncos mock draft exercise, we’re going to take a look at a situation where this team signs Case Keenum in free agency.

There have been a few reports indicating Keenum is the Broncos’ preferred option if they don’t land Cousins, so we’re going to look at the idea.

Keenum is 30 years old, but he presents an interesting wrinkle to the whole situation that Cousins really doesn’t. Let’s examine.
