The Denver Broncos’ 2018 NFL Draft order has been finalized with the NFL awarding compensatory selections. What picks will they have?

The Denver Broncos’ 2018 NFL Draft order has been finalized now that the NFL has awarded compensatory selections.

They won’t have the Mr. Irrelevant pick again this season, but the compensatory formula was much more friendly to the Broncos this year, as they were awarded a third round compensatory pick for Russell Okung, who signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2017 offseason.

Here’s the NFL’s official list of compensatory picks:

With the Broncos set to make a significant splash in free agency this offseason, don’t expect that high of a compensatory pick again next offseason.

The final list of picks for the Broncos looks really, really nice:

1st round: 5th overall
2nd round: 40th overall
3rd round: 71st overall
3rd round (compensatory pick): 99th overall
4th round: 106th overall
4th round (from 49ers): 109th overall
5th round: 142nd overall
5th round (from Falcons): 163rd overall
6th round: 183rd overall
7th round: 225th overall

That gives the Broncos 10 picks in total to start with, including six picks in the top 110. The pick acquired from the 49ers was in a draft-day trade in 2017, when the Broncos sent running back Kapri Bibbs for a future fourth rounder to San Francisco.

Bibbs ended last season in Washington with the Redskins.

The fifth round pick from Atlanta was what the Broncos received in exchange for offensive lineman Ty Sambrailo.

The Broncos have extra selections in each of the third, fourth, and fifth rounds thanks to trades for Sambrailo and Bibbs, and the Chargers paying Russell Okung a lot of money.

I suppose thanks are in order, as the Broncos could certainly use the influx of young talent.

Unlike in years prior, the Broncos do have room on the roster for this many young players. They need to hit some home runs with this draft class, and this kind of capital hasn’t been at John Elway’s disposal since the 2011 NFL Draft.
