Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe was in a lot of pain in 2017 to say the least. Now, he looks healthy, rejuvenated, and excited…

It doesn’t seem like that long ago (though it was at least 12 weeks ago) we were legitimately worried that Derek Wolfe’s playing career might be over after some shocking revelations in a radio interview.

Wolfe revealed in his weekly radio appearance that he was experiencing numbness in his face and down to his thigh, the byproduct of a spine injury that he’s been dealing with for years.

After having season-ending surgery, it appears as though Wolfe is more than just on the mend. He is looking renewed, rejuvenated, and energized for the 2018 offseason.

As you can see from Wolfe’s post, he’s ‘starting to feel young again’ and looks like he’s quickly getting himself back into peak physical condition.

In a recent post on 9News, Wolfe revealed that he couldn’t do a pushup during the season. Now, he says, he feels like he can turn his head around like an owl.

These are some of the crazy things an NFL athlete goes through physically in order to play the game we all love watching so much. Perhaps Wolfe’s situation is an extreme one, but we can’t imagine the physical toll these guys’ bodies take.

This successful surgery for Wolfe could have a ripple effect on the rest of the team. Wolfe is one of the most charismatic leaders on the Broncos, and certainly one of the most outspoken players on the team. If he’s in a positive state of mind and saying things like the Broncos are going to be ‘on a war path’ in 2018, I feel like that’s a really good thing for the rest of the squad.

Wolfe’s emotional leadership seems to mean a lot to the Broncos, and if he’s feeling good physically, I’d say that’s a win for all involved.

It’s also great to see Wolfe and other Broncos players pleased by the addition of new strength and conditioning coach Loren Landow, a Colorado-based strength coach who has worked with many Broncos players in the offseason regardless of his being hired by the team or not.

Now that he’s going to be working with the team full-time, it’s great that the Broncos and their players can have this loophole of working with a player who is going to be with the organization during the offseason when they aren’t working at the team facility.

Even when not 100 percent, Derek Wolfe is a very good player. One of the best on the Broncos, in fact. When he is 100 percent? Well, we might not even know of what he’s capable of unleashing on opposing offenses.
